29 Day Giving Challenge, Day 10

November 4, 2009 – 2:18 pm

gift-guide-marie-claire-300In my last post, I committed to participating in Cami Walker’s 29 Day Challenge… to give 29 gifts in 29 days.  In brief, Cami used this process to heal her body, mind, and spirit after receiving a diagnois of MS (multiple sclerosis).  You can visit my blog entry on Day 1 here.

I have reached Day 10 and have made some interesting observations.  Initially I found giving really easy… and then it became harder.  I had committed to give with intention which meant that I did not want to take credit for giving something after the fact.  That’s my challenge.   As I try to think of ways of giving or being of service to another or humanity, I find myself thinking more about that than my fatigue, or pain, etc.  Interesting how this stuff works.

What have I given?  I have given a variety of “things” like a rose, donation of books, money to a charity, etc.  I have also given “time.”  Spending time with an elderly neighbor, doing laundry for a friend, and taking someone shopping.   One day, I even gave to myself without feeling guilty.  I took relaxing bath while listening to music, played my drum, and wrote in my journal while my family was home – something I never do.

As I continue the next 18 days, I look forward to sharing more of my experience.  I invite you to join me.
